Trump unveils new Space Force logo

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump revealed what the US Space Force logo will be on Friday, noting how it looks suspiciously like the Starfleet Starship “Star Trek” service insignia.

Trump insisted in his tweet that he consulted with military leaders to create the logo for the newly created sixth branch of the US military.

“After consultation with our top military leaders, designers and others, I am pleased to present the new logo for the United States Space Force, the sixth branch of our magnificent military!” Trump tweeted.

Former Star Trek actor George Takei also chimed in on Twitter, saying, “Ahem. We’re expecting royalties from it.”

Trump was a strong advocate for the creation of the Space Force, which became a separate military service alongside the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard.

The newest military service will be under the Department of the Air Force, just as the US Marine Corps is a separate service within the Department of the Navy.

The central role of the Space Force will be to organize, train and equip military personnel whose primary task is space operations within the other military services.
