The US Space Force Unveiled Its Utility Uniform, And The Internet Has Something To Say About It

By Jason Hanna and Alta Spells, CNN

(CNN) – The new US Space Force has shown off its utility uniform, and it will look familiar to you.

Technically, the country’s newest military branch has unveiled its new name tapes, which attach to the uniform. “US Space Force” reads in blue embroidery, a twitter entry posted Friday shows.

The most important point is that the name tapes go on the same type of camouflage uniforms already used by the army and the air force.

“USSF uses current Army/Air Force uniforms, reducing the cost of designing/producing a new one,” the branch said in a follow-up tweet.

Many Twitter users responded with wisecracks — or had questions — about a space-focused service using camouflage.

“Camo in space? a mentioned. “No more wasted tax dollars. Great job!”

Others thought it needed more creativity or inspiration, like maybe something Starfleet inspired.

The Space Force Twitter manager noted them down and pointed out that not only is the branch trying to be profitable, but the members aren’t exactly in space yet.

“The members will look like their spouse counterparts they will be working with, in the field,” the branch said. tweeted.

President Donald Trump created the new military branch on December 20.

Some active-duty Airmen currently in the Air Force’s already existing Space Command will be assigned to the new branch but will remain with the Air Force for the time being, officials said.

Some 5,000 to 6,000 of the current 16,000 personnel will eventually transfer to the Space Force, a senior US Air Force official told CNN last year.

The branch gave no public word about a ceremonial uniform on Friday.
